Space planning
Influenced by the passing of the star man himself, David Bowie, stars and galaxies are a huge design detail right now. (Bowie recorded “Starman” in 1972 and sadly died of cancer at the age of 69)
If you keep up with emerging trends, you would have noticed that it’s not only US citizens who have spent a little time staring into space to witness the full eclipse, but also interior and fashion designers, who have been looking for inspiration recently. Galaxies, stars, nebulas and planets have all found their way into clothing and homeware collections.
At first glance, this trend may be a little too out of this world for some. Cosmic inspired designs may sound a little retro and lacking in the finesse of a more mainstream interior scheme but once you look at the scope of designs and patterns available it’s hard not to become charmed with the Galactic trend.
In a blog post containing her predictions, Gudy from EclecticTrends.com wrote: “Cosmic plays with the dark, the unknown, mystery and interacts at the same time with very shiny and bright colours. Iridescence and glitter effects are key here. Exploding stars and Aurora Boreales give the inspiration for a new visual language with a wide colour palette. The colour palette is bright, vivid and acid with pink and purple, greens and turquoise.”
If you’re planning to refurbish one of your rooms and you’d like to incorporate this modern, emerging trend, it might be time to cast your gaze towards the Marmoleum Linear Striato range, colour 5221 to create an iridescence floor effect.
