Installation

Suntups Sports Floors should be installed in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. The floor should be installed following the length of the room. Suntups Sports Floors must be allowed to acclimatise 48 hours at the normal room temperature in the middle of the room where the floor is to be installed. As this is a solid wooden floor it may have to be sticker-stacked or pin-stacked in the area to be installed (open stacked so air can get to all four sides of the floor board) depending on moisture content of the flooring and climate (in-land vs coastal). Sub-floors must be flat, level, hard, clean, and dry according to the South Africa Wood, Laminate & Flooring Association (SAWLFA) specification before laying commences. Uneven floors may need preparation to meet the required standard. In case of direct to earth concrete, a damp proof membrane must be incorporated into the sub-floor between the fill and the slab.

Suntups Sports Floor can be installed on Elastilon® 3mm Strong/ or 10mm Sport underlay or nailed directly onto pine fixed or sprung battens. The Suntups Sports Floor Range is all one set length which enables one to set the batten centres in multiplies of the flooring lengths so that the end of the floor board will always sit in the middle of the batten, ensuring that no break out of the flooring can occur during high impact to the floor.

There is a 5-year floor failure limited warranty irrespective of humidity, provided it is installed using the Elastilon® System and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
