Mapei Ultrabond Eco 4 LVT is a solvent free, fibre-reinforced synthetic polymer-based adhesive in water dispersion, formulated in a ready to use light beige paste. Specifically developed for LVT in tiles and planks, it is charecterised by a fast and strong initial grab and a rapid set, as well as rigid and cohesive final film, which gives the floor covering a very good dimensional stability.

Mapei Ultrabond  4LVT

The sub-floor needs to be smooth, hard (mechanically strong without cracks), clean (free of all paint spots, wax, rust, grease, patches of oil or any other foreign matter), sound, and compliant to a Grade 1-floor finish as set out in SANS 10070 Code of Practice: The installation of resilient thermoplastic and similar flexible floor covering materials, in terms of levelness. The sub-floor must also be dry before the installation of the flooring. Test the sub-floor for dryness by using a suitably approved Concrete Moisture Meter. (Tramex CME 4, Caisson / Romus VI-D4 Pinless Concrete Moisture Meter, GE Protimeter Mini or a Hygrometer). [See FloorworX Technical Bulletin No. 30: Moisture in Sub-Floors and Damp-Proof Membranes]. All sub-floors on the ground level should be protected from rising moisture using an effective damp-proof membrane. It is recommended that excessively porous or dusty surfaces are primed using a suitably recommended primer before the application of adhesives. 

Stir the adhesive thoroughly before use. Spread the Mapei Ultrabond Eco 4LVT solvent-free fibre-reinforced synthetic polymer dispersion adhesive using a trowel fitted with a TKB-A2 notched blade at a rate of approximately 3.0 to 4.0m² per litre (depending on the porosity of the floor). Only apply as much adhesive over an area that can be applied with floor covering within the *open time (20 -30 minutes) of the adhesive. Allow a short waiting time (0 – 10 minutes) and then install the material.

Bed the flooring into the adhesive to ensure a good transfer to the backing and to further ensure that the adhesive notch ridges are impressed. Be cautious to avoid air pockets. Roll the flooring using a 68kg three-sectional metal flooring roller in both directions before the adhesive has hardened. Any adhesive on the surface of the flooring material must be removed immediately using a damp cloth.

*Open time: – The maximum working time that the adhesive, after it has been spread on the substrate, remains able to receive the flooring. There can be a significant difference in open time due to atmospheric moisture, temperature and screed porosity.
