FloorworX No. 27 is a water-based carbon loaded acrylic conductive adhesive specifically formulated for the installation of anti-static or conductive flooring where precise limits of electrical resistance are essential. The complete flooring system acts as a medium for equalising electro-static charges while simultaneously reducing the danger of electric shocks from mains-connected equipment.

Application

Concrete sub-floors must be sound, clean, smooth, level and completely dry. The surface must also be free of grease, wax or any other contaminant. All sub-floors in contact with the ground must incorporate a reliable Damp Proof System. Should Pavelite be used to repair or improve sub-floors, FloorworX No. 33 Bonding Liquid MUST be added to the mix.

Excessively porous or dusty surfaces must be primed using a suitable primer. Allow the primed surface approximately 24 hours to dry prior to the application of adhesive.

Stir the adhesive thoroughly prior to use. Spread evenly using a trowel fitted with an A2 notched blade. Allow sufficient time (5 to 30 minutes depending on ambient temperature) for the moisture to flash off. The adhesive is ready for flooring to be laid when the spread adhesive feels soft and tacky but not wet to the touch. Static dissipative or conductive tiles must be closely butted and firmly pressed down into the adhesive. Bed the flooring into the adhesive using a 68kg three-sectional metal floor roller in both directions before the adhesive has hardened. Any adhesive on the surface of the flooring material must be removed immediately using a damp cloth. Where applicable rout and weld all joints between tiles and also between tiles and skirting within 24 hours of installation according to SANS 051: Part 1-1973 (Appendix B) – Code of practice for the Prevention of Explosive and Electrical Hazards in Hospitals.
